Gleason hires children’s librarian

submitted by Assistant Library Director Martha Feeney-Patten

The Gleason Public Library has hired Nicole Claire as Children’s Librarian. Nicole served as temporary Teen/Reference Librarian at the Gleason during a staff leave in 2012 and is thrilled to be returning to work with the people of Carlisle and staff of the Gleason. She is currently the Children’s and Young Adult Librarian at the Upton Town Library, where she is responsible for creating and organizing programs for young readers of all ages. She has a degree in English and Creative Writing from Sweet Briar College and a masters in Library and Information Science from the Palmer School of Library and Information Science, Long Island University/New York University.

Nicole will be starting at the Gleason in mid-June, in time to kick off a busy summer reading program, Build a Better World.

Planned events include Jungle Jim’s Minecraft Madness, Mr. Vinny’s Shadow Puppet Show, The MAGIC of Books with magician Tommy James, and Build a Better World—with Music! with award-winning children’s musician Steve Blunt, as well as book bingos and craft activities. ∆
