Police Chief John Sullivan and Sgt. Kevin Cardonne resign

The investigation of allegations against Carlisle Police Chief John Sullivan and Sgt. Kevin Cardonne has resulted in their resignations, effective Friday, December 18. Board of Selectmen Chair John Williams made the announcement on Tuesday evening, December 21, following a private executive session of the board. A Disciplinary Hearing for Cardonne originally scheduled for noon had been cancelled.

The two police officers have been on paid administrative leave since late October. Williams said that Sullivan has filed for retirement with the Middlesex Retirement Board. Carlisle’s financial obligation has ended, Williams said. Both received their final checks this week and “there will be no additional severance or payment of any kind to either officer.”
Sullivan has served as chief since 2005 and has been a member of the Carlisle Police Force for 25 years.

Williams’s statement did not include any details of the allegations, which he said were “serious in nature.”  He said, “This resolution is appropriate and in the best interest of the town of Carlisle.”. ∆
