Chief Sullivan placed on leave pending investigation
Town Administrator Tim Goddard released the following information on Friday, October 22:
“The Carlisle Board of Selectmen has placed Police Chief John Sullivan on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation to determine the veracity of certain allegations made regarding the management of the Carlisle Police Department. The Board will consider whether any further action is appropriate after it receives a report of the investigator’s findings. In the interim Lieutenant Leo Crowe will be responsible for overseeing police operations. The Selectmen are committed to ensuring that the Police Department continues to adequately protect the Town and its citizens. By law, personnel matters must be kept confidential to protect the privacy of employees. The Board cannot comment or provide further information while the investigation is proceeding.”
Goddard stated, “The board will have no public statement beyond the information contained in the press release.” On Tuesday, Board of Selectmen Chair John Williams repeated that the board was not ready to release any additional information.
Sullivan has been a member of the Carlisle Police Force for 25 years and was promoted to chief in December, 2005.
