Fire Department cistern contract awarded

At the September 8 Selectmen’s meeting a contract was awarded to C. Naughton Corporation of Weymouth to install a 40,000 gallon fire protection cistern at the Fire Station. The winning bid was for $115,005 and the bidder assumed 500 cubic feet of ledge to be removed. Fire Chief David Flannery said that probe data that was available to the bidders suggested that rocks and boulders were involved at the site. Flannery said that the price was less than the appropriations made for the project and that tank delivery could be expected in three weeks. ∆
