Beware of the following scam

A male party will knock on the door of elderly residents and explain that tree work is being done in the area and requests they come outside and point out the trees they don’t want cut. The residents then return to their houses minutes later to discover money and jewelry have been stolen while they were conversing outside.

If someone does come to your door, attempt to get any descriptions of the parties and vehicles involved; license plates are extremely helpful. Be cautious with contractors asking for work with no markings on their vehicles and no identification of who they work for on their persons. If someone does come to your door to solicit any type of work, ask for proper identification. If you have any questions at all of who you are dealing with or think you may have had this type of incident recently, please contact the Carlisle Police Department immediately at 1-978-369-1155.
