The April 16 article “Fifty Acre Way oil leak triggers emergency response” concludes with the statement “new state legislation makes it illegal to have an oil line which is not visible.” A more accurate statement would be that if an oil line is under the floor it must either have an oil safety valve (which can shut off the flow) installed at the tank or a double sleeve line installed. An oil burner or tank which is being replaced is required to upgrade with a double sleeve.
