Unanimous BOS support for Carlisle School building project
On March 23 the Board of Selectmen closed the single-item Warrant for the April 5 Special Town Meeting and voted to give unanimous support to the Article. Voters will be asked to approve detailed design and construction costs for a $20-million Carlisle School building project to replace the Spalding Building and renovate other buildings on the school campus. The debt must also be approved at a Special Election scheduled for April 13. Selectman Doug Stevenson emphasized that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has authorized approximately $7 million of the $20 million for reimbursement by the State. Certain parts of the project are ineligible for reimbursement by the MSBA (see “Forum spotlights Carlisle School building project,” March 19).
Board Chair Tim Hult said, “This is a difficult time in the economy but it is an excellent time to get the building trades involved.” He said that it is an important Article, “Carlisle has always emphasized education, open space and community values.” ∆
