Superintendent Marie Doyle hired by Longmeadow
Carlisle School Superintendent Marie Doyle has accepted the Superintendent position at Longmeadow Schools, near Springfield, Massachusetts, pending contract negotiations. Doyle was one of three finalists for the job, as well as a finalist for superintendent in at least four other school districts.
“Longmeadow is a highly renowned school system,” Doyle explained by phone, “and I was very impressed by its strategic plan and vision for curriculum and technology.”
The Longmeadow School District is comprised of three elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school, with approximately 3,100 students.
Doyle announced her resignation in November, effective June 30. She came to the Carlisle School in 2004 after serving as principal of Newton’s Bigelow Middle School for nine years. Prior to that, she worked as a curriculum specialist in Foxborough and taught grades five through eight in Belmont and Lowell. “After a wonderful experience in Carlisle,” said Doyle, “I look forward to new challenges in Longmeadow.” ∆
