Monday’s Town Caucus to nominate candidates
Candidates for elected positions in town government will be nominated during the annual Town Caucus on Monday, March 1, to be held in the Clark Room at Town Hall at 7 p.m.
See table for a list of openings. According to Town Clerk Charlene Hinton, not all incumbents have indicated whether they will run for re-election. However, three have said that they will not seek another term: Tim Hult on the Board of Selectmen, Carol Nathan on the Planning Board and Dale Ryder on the Carlisle School Committee.
The caucus will choose up to two nominees for each vacancy. A candidate does not have to be present to be nominated at the caucus, but must agree to the nomination within 48 hours and come in to Town Hall to sign papers in the Town Clerk’s office. Any registered voter may run for office or nominate a candidate. Names of nominees will be placed on the ballot of the Annual Town Election to be held on Tuesday, May 18.
Candidates who decide to run after the caucus may place their names on the ballot by collecting signatures on a petition, or may run as a write-in candidate. For more information about how to run for office, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 1-978-369-6155.
