Carlisle welcomes new COA director

Debra Siriani of Westford will begin serving as the new Carlisle Council on Aging Director on Tuesday. The search committee, led by Verna Gilbert and comprised of Liz Bishop, Jim Elgin, Abha Singhal and Marje Stickler, unanimously recommended Siriani who was also unanimously approved by the Board of Selectmen at their Tuesday, January 12 meeting.

“I appreciated the opportunity and look forward to working with you all,” said Siriani to the Selectmen. She brings relevant work experience, including acting as a program coordinator for the Chelmsford Senior Center where she planned and implemented health education, cultural experiences and recreational programs (2003-2007). She served as an activities director at the Oakwood Nursing Home in Manchester-by-the-Sea (1996-1997) and as assistant activities director at the Peabody Glen Nursing Center (1995-1996). She earned a B.A. in Theater Arts from Salem State College and a M.A. in Expression Art Therapies from Lesley College.

“Debra received outstanding references,” said Gilbert, reading from a report from the search committee. “She is characterized as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills and deals very well with other individuals and organizations. She is described as warm, sincere and responsive to seniors.” ∆
