Girls varsity soccer victorious in first round of play-offs
The CCHS Girls Varsity Soccer Team ended the season with ten wins, four ties and seven
losses. Starting off the season with challenging opponents from Acton-Boxborough, Westford Academy and Lincoln-Sudbury, the CCHS varsity team played well throughout the season, making it to the first round of play-offs.
The highlight of the season was winning 2-1 in the first game of the play-offs against Woburn, but the Patriots fell in the second game to Acton-Boxborough with a defeat of 4-1. Carlisle senior Hillary Cook was one of this year’s three captains, along with Jack Winter, and Maria Whelan. Cook held midfield position, scoring four goals this season with one of the winning goals against Woburn in the season tournament. Other Carlisle players included Lindsey Cook, Lauren Tierney, Maila Kodas, Campbell Hart and Michelle Solomon, all of whom will be on the team again next year.
Captain Hillary Cook says that the team appears in good shape for next year with a strong offensive and defensive line-up. However, they will be looking for new, strong players in the midfield – a position Hillary will leave as a departing senior. The team was glad to have Coach Nancy Slocum back this year and they are looking forward to next season. ∆
