Girls cross-country took third in league and Eastern Mass meet

After taking third in both the Dual County League (DCL) Championship Meet and Eastern Massachusetts State Meet, the CCHS Girls Cross-country Team qualified for the MIAA State Meet for the seventh time in nine years for a strong finish to an impressive season. Captains Marree Budris, Kaytee Curran, Meredith Lorch and Anna Stabler, along with Head Coach Hannah Bruno, led the team of more than 50 runners to an impressive 8-1 record. (Their only loss came on nationally ranked Newton South’s home course, early in the season). Cross-country is one sport known for its depth at Concord-Carlisle. The JV had an undefeated season, for instance, and 18 different girls ran in a varsity race. Also of note is the strength of the varsity squad. Of the seven runners at the All-State Meet, six will be returning next year.

Among newcomers, freshman Megan Ratcliffe was a valuable addition, consistently the team’s third finisher. Other Carlisleans included seniors Emma Caroline Materne, Janice Galejs, Kaytie Innamorati and Kelsey Canavan, juniors Julia Brem and Rebecca Shenton, sophomores Meg Parson and Isabel Materne and freshmen Michelle Carey and Katherine Sorrows. ∆
