Fire totals car on Hanover Road
A resident who saw smoke rising from the Hanover Hill development last Saturday called in the information to the Carlisle Police Department. Police and firemen arrived at the scene at 2:19 p.m. to find a vehicle fully involved in flames. The fire was under control by 2:31 p.m., but the vehicle was a total loss, much of it melted, due to the fire.
Police Lt. Leo Crowe said police were able to obtain a vehicle identification number (VIN) from the remains of the car and used it to identify the Ashland resident to whom it is registered. That individual returned a phone call on Tuesday and scheduled an interview in Carlisle on Thursday, October 22, at 7 a.m. At that time police hope to determine how and why the car ended up being set on fire in a Carlisle development which has only one completed house. Crowe said the police would welcome a call from anyone who may have seen something on Saturday afternoon. ∆
