State gives Carlisle details of school building project aid
At the BOS meeting June 23 a letter was presented from the Massachusetts School Building Association (MSBA) approving 40% reimbursement for the design phase of the Carlisle School Building project. A pleasant surprise was that the master plan paid for by the town some years ago will also be included.
The letter indicates that costs eligible for reimbursement include $475,000 for the design and $50,000 for the Master Plan for a total of $525,000. The payments will be made as costs are accrued and are not to exceed $210,000. Town Administrator Madonna McKenzie noted that the town will therefore bond only the 60% to be paid by Carlisle.
The letter asked for a member of the BOS to be assigned as signator, and after limited discussion, the board voted to assign Chair Tim Hult. Town Counsel will review the letter, which was hailed as “good news!” by Selectman John Williams, with the other Selectmen nodding their agreement. ∆
