Road projects planned for 2009

In a recent phone conversation, DPW Chief Gary Davis outlined his department’s plans for road work this summer.

Within the next week or so, repaving will begin on River Road and Rutland Street. River Road will be surfaced from Nowell Farme Road south to the Concord town line, and Rutland Street from Great Brook Path to the Billerica town line.

Davis notes he has received several requests to finish Stearns Street. That project was held up last year because private work needed to be finished on the Bedford end, and by Patten Lane more ledge was found than anticipated. Frost hit last fall before these issues could be resolved, but those projects will be completed as soon as the work on the Bedford end is done. Another hot point is West Street, which will be completed shortly and receive drainage and paving.

Church Street from Concord Street to School Street will be paved following installation of the pathway. This will move the street about one foot north onto the Common to allow room for the pathway to bypass private property. ∆
