Upcoming bid request for wireless facilities on town-owned land
The 2007 Annual Town Meeting authorized the Selectmen to lease or otherwise dispose of all or portions of nine town-owned properties for the purpose of construction and operation of personal wireless system(s) and facilities. No further action was required at this year’s Town Meeting. The Wireless Advisory Subcommittee has winnowed the list of potential sites to five sites as indicated in Table 1 at right and diagrams below. The pieces of land to be made available for leasing are small – the size of the footprint for a house or less.
Brian Larson, a member of the subcommittee and vice chair of the Planning Board, said that the formal Request for Proposal (RFP) will be ready for release to the community of wireless service providers during the next few weeks pending approval by the Board of Selectmen.
Any facility subsequently constructed will require a building permit and a special permit from the Planning Board conforming to the Carlisle Zoning Bylaws and the board’s Rules and Regulations. ∆
