New tax rate set at $14.04

The state has approved Carlisle’s new real estate tax rate of $14.04 per $1,000 of property, up from $12.86 last year.

At a November 25 meeting of town officials, Doug Stevenson, chair of the Board of Selectmen, asked how the recent assessors property revaluation would affect taxpayers, since home prices were not revalued equally but were changed to reflect fluctuations in sales prices. (See “Assessors to adjust property values,” Mosquito, November 7.) Town Treasurer Larry Barton said that looking at annual payments, he had noticed taxes rising between 1% and 6%, depending on the property. ∆
