West Nile Virus found in Carlisle

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) announced last week that two dead bluejays found in different parts of Carlisle tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). As of August 25, there have been no human cases of WNV reported in 2008. In 2007 there were six human cases of WNV. ...more

Slow real estate growth raises budget alarms

The Finance Committee (FinCom) visited the Board of Selectmen (BOS) on August 12 to raise alarms that Carlisle’s continued slow real estate growth may force a hard look at cutting some town services. Short term solutions that worked to balance the FY09 budget this year will not be feasible over the long term if town revenues continue at a reduced level. ...more

CSC gives Doyle 3.9% raise: To review evaluation process

At its August 19 meeting, the Carlisle School Committee (CSC) confirmed Superintendent Marie Doyle’s FY09 salary at $143,159.65 and agreed to examine the Superintendent evaluation process in the coming year. The Superintendent’s salary had been approved by CSC vote during private executive session at an earlier meeting and was now unanimously approved publicly. ...more
