Thanks from Town Clerk

To the Editor:

I would like to thank everyone who came out to vote in our Annual Town Election on May 13, 2008. Even though our turnout was smaller than in the recent past, we are very grateful to everyone who participated.

Congratulations to all the newly elected Town Officials and please remember to stop by my office as soon as possible to take the oath of office.

Our tireless group of volunteers led by Election Wardens Eva Herndon and Kerri Piette worked very hard all day making sure that everyone who came by was able to vote with no problems. We even had two voters use the new Automark voting machine. We welcome anyone who would like to use the machine at future elections to ask for an Automark ballot when they check in. Our election team will be happy to help you learn how to operate the ballot marking machine.

We rely on many of the same volunteers repeatedly each election. Please take a minute as your paths cross to thank them for contributing their time to such an important process. We simply could not do this without them! If you are interested in participating as an election day volunteer or a counter on the evenings of elections, please call my office at 1-978-369-6155 or e-mail me at We will gladly train you for future elections.

Thanks again to all who participated in whatever role you played.

Charlene M. Hinton
Town Clerk
