Gleason Library Trustee
I am Ann Rosas, a Carlisle resident since November of 2006; I know that makes me a newcomer to town. But I am a native Bay Stater, and I moved to Carlisle after a seven-year stay in Bellevue, Washington. I’m glad to be back!
I have been an active volunteer everywhere I’ve lived. I believe that great communities don’t just happen by chance, great communities happen when people get involved. I also love libraries so it was a natural fit for me to volunteer with the Gleason Library. I met with Angela Mollet, library director, and knew that I could help the library and in return would enjoy being a volunteer there. I have a background in fundraising, marketing and communications, and Angela and I saw there were ways I could help the library ,and I have been busy since. I am part of the Library Latest Enews team and am proud of the product we produce. Sign up now at www.gleasonlibrary.org to receive Library Latest in your inbox! I will coordinate the first all-community read for the Gleason Library, to happen in January 2009. Please stay tuned for more information on this.
I am continually impressed with the quality and quantity of programming and materials available at our library. There really is something for everyone at the library, from drop-in story times for the youngest to teen programs, to armchair travel lectures, and other great adult programs. And the Gleason Library staff is always available to help you learn to use the Internet or find new resources for your reading pleasure. With the power of all the libraries in the Middlesex Valley Library Consortium available to Gleason patrons, there really isn’t any book/movie/music you can’t find to read/view/listen to. Through programs, materials and staff, our library has made a strong commitment to meet the needs of our community.
Carlisle needs to continue in its strong commitment to the Gleason Library, but town funds can only be stretched so far, and that is why I want to be a trustee. I will help the library remain a community resource we can count on, and I will help the library grow its financial resources to secure a more sustainable future. I will look for private resources to strengthen, support and expand the great work that is happening at the Gleason. I hope you will vote for me and be an active part in our wonderful community!
