See Carlisle candidates on CCTV
The League of Women Voters (LWV), through the Candidates Forums and other communications, has long been a source of information on local elections. This year, with three contested Carlisle elections for Selectman, Carlisle School Committee, and Library Trustee, the League is for the first time adding Concord Carlisle Community TV (CCTV) to its communications media. Candidates were invited to deliver two-minute summaries of their backgrounds, community connections and reasons for running, for a program that is now running on Channel 8.
LWV member Barbara Lewis spearheaded the effort. When the Mosquito visited the filming on April 1, Lewis was busy reassuring nervous candidates. Several emerged from filming to request “do overs” that were graciously granted. Cameramen Jon Horvath and Linda Fantasia were diligent in maintaining the two-minute limit, which proved a challenge for several. However, most were able to polish and shorten their deliveries. Dave Ives later edited the program, adding music, labeling and an introduction inviting us into Carlisle’s Town Hall.
Not all candidates were available for filming. For a chance to see those not on TV and ask questions of all candidates, watch for information on the LWV Forum which takes place May 4.
The show will air on Channel 8 as follows: Sunday, April 20, 2:30 p.m.
Monday, April 21, 1 p.m.
Tuesday, April 22, 11 a.m.
Friday, April 25, 2 p.m.
