Medical Reserve Corps meets Monday
Carlisle's Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), supervised by the Board of Health, is mandated to plan how to organize, equip and recruit volunteers to manage whatever citizens might need during public health or public safety emergencies. Examples would be vaccinating citizens against a pandemic flu and providing shelter during a prolonged electrical blackout.
A meeting of Carlisle's Medical Reserve Corps was held on January 23 with Sarah Robart, a deputy MRC coordinator for the region, who discussed training strategies and described the state requirements for an MRC Executive Committee. The first tasks for such a committee will be to recruit members and discuss immediate goals and activities for the coming year.
Anyone with questions about the emergency planning, or interest in helping with these plans is welcome at the next organizational meeting of the MRC on Monday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
