Statue rehab planned
Jane Anderson and Cindy Craft of the Civic Committee of the Carlisle Garden Club spoke at the Historical Commission's November 27 meeting to request the Commission's support of their proposed application to the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) for funding not to exceed $5,000 to clean the statue in the rotary. (See "Rotary Goddess Needs Care," April 2, 2004). Sylvia Sillers, the Historical Commission's liaison to the CPC, reviewed last year's application by the Historical Commission that failed because a firm bid was not available before Town Meeting.
The commissioners encouraged the Garden Club representatives to continue to seek bids for cleaning and encouraged any Carlisle experts in the area of cleaning marble to contact Anderson. Sillers will work with Anderson and Craft on their proposal to the CPC, which is due January 11.
