Helicopter activity details unconfirmed
Many residents noticed helicopter activity in town last week and passers-by may have noticed the presence of police at the ice cream stand on Bedford Road. According to Kimball Farm representative Dick Lamburn, a police helicopter was being used in the area. He said Kimball's property was used as a "base station" for communication with police on the ground. Massachusetts Drug Enforcement Agency personnel participated, he said, adding that the operation was not directed at the ice cream stand, "It didn't involve us."
Carlisle Police Chief John Sullivan would neither confirm nor deny the incident. However, he did say that when outside law enforcement agencies enter a town, they customarily notify local police as a courtesy.
