Phillip E. Mestancik

Phillip E. Mestancik, age 59, of Lowell, formerly of Indian Hill, passed away unexpectedly in his residence on July 24. Born February 19, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Rose Mestancik and the late Edward A. Mestancik. He was raised and educated in Cleveland, where he attended Bedford High School. He obtained a degree in engineering from Cleveland State and an MBA from Kent State. Throughout his career, Phil was employed at various high-tech companies in the Boston area.

Phil married Amy and they settled in Carlisle where together they raised their two boys, Jeremy and Jason. Phil will always be remembered for his love of his children, his passion for sports and his wry sense of humor. He will be missed dearly by caring friends and family.

He is survived by his two loving boys, Jeremy and Jason, both of Carlisle; his mother Rose Mestancik of Solon, Ohio; a brother Edward Mestancik of Loveland, Ohio; and his former wife, Amy Mestancik of Carlisle.

A service was held Tuesday, July 31, in MacRae-Tunnicliffe's Concord Funeral Home. Interment will be private. Gifts in his name may be made to the Phillip E. Mestancik Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of America, 52 Main Street, Concord, MA 01742.

James E. Starbuck

James Starbuck, 60, of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, formerly of Cranberry Hill Lane, died on July 25.

Mr. Starbuck, an engineer, had built a small helicopter and was flying it over the river behind his house on Thursday, July 19, when it crashed. Witnesses heard the engine sputter before the chopper went down. The chopper did have pontoons, but it landed in the water upside down. He was unconscious when his long-time partner, Barbara Graham, got to him and pulled him out of the water. He never regained consciousness.

Ivan A. Yeaton Jr.

Ivan A. Yeaton Jr., 86, of Concord, a former resident of Judy Farm Road, died on July 31, at the Rivercrest Nursing Home in Concord. Visiting hours will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Road, Bedford, on Tuesday, August 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 8 at 11 a.m. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Kenneth Yeaton Scholarship Fund, c/o/ Assabet Valley High School, 215 Fitchburg Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.

Samuel Pratt Snell

Liz and Travis Snell of School Street are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Samuel Pratt, born on May 29. He is the brother of big sister, Susannah.

Grandparents are Bruce and Kristen Gurall of Concord and Hilary and Constance Snell of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

· Justin Delgado of East Street earned academic honors for the spring semester at the Advanced Math and Science Academy, a charter school in Marlborough for grades 6 to 12.
