Highway safety initiatives take place in Carlisle
The Carlisle Police Department again took part in two mobilizations funded by the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau as part of the Click It or Ticket and Drunk Driving Over the Limit Under Arrest initiative. "Drunk Driving Over the Limit Under Arrest" is the name that replaced "You Drink and Drive, You Lose." These mobilizations are funded by a grant through the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau, a program of the Executive Office of Public Safety.
The first mobilization, Click It or Ticket was conducted May 14 through June 3. In total there were 20 hours of patrol dedicated solely to traffic enforcement. In 20 hours of traffic enforcement there were 38 vehicle stops, and 32 citations were issued. Five total citations were issued for operators and passengers not wearing their safety belts.
The second mobilization, Drunk Driving Over the Limit Under Arrest, was conducted July 2 through July 15. In total there were 20 hours of patrol dedicated solely to traffic enforcement and looking for impaired drivers. There was a total of 35 vehicle stops and 20 citations were issued. There were no arrests made for operators driving under the influence.
There will be a second Drunk Driving Over the Limit Under Arrest mobilization taking place in August.
