Old Home Day scholarship program
This year, the Old Home Day Committee announced a multi-generational scholarship program based on strengthening the involvement of Carlisle citizens in community service. The scholarship program is funded from Old Home Day earnings and charitable donations designated exclusively for the scholarship program.
There are two scholarship grants: a $1,000 scholarship for a Carlisle resident graduating from high school who will attend an accredited college or vocational school, and a $500 scholarship for Carlisle residents age 25 or older wishing to pursue adult/continuing education.
This year's $1,000 grant went to Lauren Kirkness who will attend Mount Ida College in Newton this fall. For the past three years, Lauren has volunteered at a local nursing home, donating her time and energy to improving the lives of residents, many of whom reside in the Alzheimer wing.
The $500 scholarship for Carlisle residents age 25 or older wishing to pursue adult/continuing education has not been awarded yet. There is no deadline for the adult ed scholarship and applications may be submitted throughout the year. See the Old Home Day web site at www.carlisleOHD.org for further information.
