Selectmen okay new gas main
KeySpan representative Francis X. O'Leary presented a petition at the Board of Selectmen's meeting on May 15 to install approximately 5,400 feet of gas main to fill a gap in the main on Westford Street between Acton Street and Landmark Road in Westford. O'Leary said that the addition of this gas main will improve and regulate pressure in the line. The new eight-inch diameter main will connect the existing four-inch line on Westford Street in Carlisle to an existing 12-inch gas main in Westford.
KeySpan will work with the Conservation Commission regarding work near any wetlands. While no tie-ins are involved in this project, residents in the area may later be able to connect their homes to the gas line, for a fee.
Because a certain amount of traffic disruption is expected during the six- to eight-week project, KeySpan will cooperate with the Police Department to have officers on duty at the work site. After a few questions, the Selectmen approved this petition.
