Name.The red-spotted newt is one of four closely related species of Eastern Newt, all of which have the name Notophthalmus viridescens. The sub-species in our area is N. viridescens viridescens. The Concord-Carlisle Girls Softball team kept their winning streak alive as they beat Danvers 4-3 on April 21, Wayland 15-2 on April 23, Westford 5-0 on April 24, and Bedford, 1-0 on April 30.
