Vandalism spree hits town
It may have been the coincidence of school vacation and the longed-for advent of warm weather that contributed to a rash of vandalism last week. The Police Blotter records 17 entries for vandalism between April 16 and April 23, most of them for damaged or missing mailboxes. Police Chief John Sullivan says police are doing what they can to prevent vandalism, but cannot do much if a call comes in the next morning when the responsible persons have left the scene and area. He says, "If you hear a bang, just call uswe need that call."
Damage occurred in the Concord Street, South Street, Heald Road and Indian Hill Road areas and across town on Rutland and East Streets.
