| Joan Allen (pictured above) of Pilgrim Path was awarded the LeRoy Hebert Award of Excellence for her "Kids' Night Out" watercolor painting at the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society Painters Guild Annual Show. Theexhibit is being held at the Parson's Gallery, 130 Waltham Street, Lexington, from March 2 to 24.
Jake Dockterman of Russell Street will perform as second chair alto saxophone at Symphony Hall on March 24 in the All State Music Festival Concert Band. In January he was also second chair in the Northeastern Senior District Music Festival. Dockterman is a sophomore at Concord Academy.

The names of Alan Carpenito and John Knobel were misspelled last week. As part of her Primary Source studies on Western Africa, Carlisle School Technology Specialist Cyd McCann (not Spanish teacher Andrea Seddon as was reported last week) has been collaborating with music teacher Megan Fitzharris to create a website that traces the roots of black music.
