RSC reviews high school calendar
At the December 12 meeting of the Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee (RSC), Human Resources Administrator Kelly McCausland talked about recommendations for changes to the high school calendar. Currently, Concord Public School and Concord-Carlisle Regional High School (CCHS) students do not get out of school until the last week of June. McCausland said, "It is very difficult having exams during the last week of June." This has been problematic for students starting jobs or going off to summer camp. There is a push to move the school year forward by two days. This would mean that teachers would have professional days before Labor Day and school would start the day after Labor Day, rather than the Thursday after Labor Day. CCHS teachers have tentatively agreed to the change, although a formal vote still needs to be taken. Concord Public School teachers have not agreed to this change. RSC member Jerry Wedge said, "We should continue to work with K through 8 teachers to try to match the CCHS calendar."
