Shorts from the Regional School Committee, November 28
· Varsity Soccer Team wins State Championship. Concord-Carlisle High School (CCHS) Principal Art Dulong recognized the Varsity Soccer Team and its coaches for winning the State Championship. The team racked up a score of nine to one against Leicester in the Division II final, the largest difference on record in the last 25 years. Dulong said, "It was the first time Concord-Carlisle had won the entire State GameThe team put out an extraordinary effort along the wayThe boys conducted themselves respectfullyIt was a real pleasure for me."
· Statement of Interest finalized. Filing a Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) is the first step to getting funding for a new or improved high school. The RSC approved the final draft of this document on November 28. Superintendent Brenda Finn thanked those who put in a lot of time drafting the document. She especially thanked Director of Finance and Operations John Flaherty and Art Dulong for their major efforts. RSC member Jerry Wedge said, "It's just a terrific comprehensive document."
· Parking lot paved. A section of the student parking lot that had been gravel was paved last week. RSC student members Leigh Davis and Hannah Braaten both showed their enthusiasm for the improvement. The paving was paid for by student parking fees.
· Carlisle bus routes. John Flaherty has been checking further into the issue of overcrowded buses coming from Carlisle to the high school. He said, "Forty-eight of 55 seats are occupied on a bus from Carlisle." He is looking into shifting students from the most popular bus to others.
