Town receives $100,747 in state aid
Carlisle has received notification that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has issued the town a lump sum amount of $100,747. The aid is to pay the debt service on the Robbins School repairs authorized by Town Meeting in 1999. These repai=rs included the replacement of two rooftop heating ventilation units and two related Air Quality (IAQ) items.
The aid was not entirely unexpected. Doug Stevenson, Chair of the Board of Selectmen, explained that for several years this repair had been on a waiting list for state aid to school building projects at 50% reimbursement. Unlike the old method of distributing payments over 10 to 15 years, the new MSBA policy is to send the entire sum at once. Stevenson said the money will be used to pay $20,000 in town debt each year for the next five years.
