Jordan Farrow stands next to her proud mother Kris Gines-Farrow who recently competed in the Ford Ironman Triathlon Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

· Kris Gines-Farrow of Lowell Street recently competed in the Ford Ironman Triathlon Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on October 21. She was one of 200 lottery winners out of 2,000 worldwide applicants for the 2006 Championship race. An Ironman race is made up of an ocean swim of 2.4 miles, followed by biking 112 miles, topped off by a marathon-distance run of 26.2 miles. All participants must complete the race within 17 hours to be considered an official finisher. Kris' finish time was 14:42:57, making her an official finisher. Kris started training and competing in shorter distance triathlons in the winter of 2001. By the summer of 2004 she had completed her first full Ironman distance event in Lake Placid, New York. She completed her second full Ironman at Lake Placid in 2005 and this year in August she completed Ironman Canada. Next year she has her sights on Ironman Wisconson held in Madison, Wisconsin. She lives in Carlisle with her husband Chuck Farrow and two daughters, Jordan and Davis Farrow.

A SENIOR PROM EVERY 56 YEARS. Wayne Blake of Lowell Street dances with Peggy Lou Howes of Cape Cod at the COA Seniors Prom in Union Hall on Friday night. Wayne and (then) Peggy Lou Atkinson were classmates growing up in Newton. Later, Peggy and family moved to Wareham, and in 1950 Peggy Lou invited Wayne to her senior prom. Both Wayne and Peggy Lou married other people. Wayne married Irene Bass. Peggy Lou married David Howes. Incidentally, both couples moved to Carlisle and have remained good friends over the years. Peggy Lou and her husband have since moved to the Cape, but they still enjoy coming back to Carlisle. While Irene and David sat this one out, Wayne and Peggy Lou took a turn around the floor.
