METCO graduate Abdirauf Abdullahi slain

Abdirauf Abdullahi was shot and killed Sunday night outside his home in Boston. A participant in the METCO program, he had graduated earlier this month from the Concord-Carlisle Regional High School.

School Principal Arthur Dulong wrote to parents, "Those who knew Abdirauf know that he was a gentle young man; polite, respectful, and friendly. He will be very sadly missed." The high school counselors were made available to students who wished to see one.

Abdullahi was 19 years old. According to the Boston Globe, he had come to America from Somalia in 1996, and had received a scholarship to attend the University of Charleston in West Virginia. His parents are Fadumo Mohamed and Abdigatar Salah of 304 Shawmut Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
