Carlisle's traditional Memorial Day Observation will occur on Monday, May 29. One of the few things in our lives that remain the same from year to year, the event features a parade, ceremonies at the town cemeteries and memorial locations, a convocation in the school auditorium, and the fine music of the school chorus and bands.

This year's convocation speaker is Tom O'Halloran, the school music teacher who built the Carlisle band program to its current prize-winning level. Mr. O'Halloran will retire in June after 23 years in the Carlisle Schools and a music career totaling 35 years.

The Carlisle Minutemen will hold the flag-raising ceremony on the Town Common at 9:30 a.m., followed by the convocation at 10 a.m., in the Corey Auditorium. The parade forms immediately after the convocation, and closing ceremonies take place at noon in front of the First Religious Society, after which the ladies of the FRS will host the traditional ham and bean luncheon.
