Benfield Land housing still on hold
The rare blue-spotted salamander continues to hold up progress on the Benfield Land, a parcel currently under review for an affordable housing development, while the Carlisle Housing Authority (CHA) waits for appropriate mitigation recommendations from the Department of Natural Resources. At their March 22 meeting the CHA concentrated on fine-tuning housing-related articles on the Warrant for Town Meeting, May 1.
The proposed housing trust waits approval by Town Meeting. Meanwhile, the CHA is recommending that Town Meeting approve the transfer of $90,000 from the Community Preservation Committee's (CPC) housing account to the housing trust, when approved, for the purpose of subsidizing affordable accessory apartment development. If the housing trust does not pass Town Meeting, the CHA will ask for the funds to be transferred directly to the CHA, subject to restrictions that specific project spending be approved either by the Board of Selectmen or by future Town Meetings.
