TRAINING SESSION. On December 14, Carlisle firefighters train with live fire at this house on Westford Street. Since owner Ira Gould gave permission, the house, slated for demolition, has been used for various training exercises during the past year. This large fire, the culminating session, attracted the attention of John Snelling, of Lincoln, who snapped this photo.

A TRADITION CONTINUES. Walter Woodward assembled the band for caroling on the Green on Christmas Eve. In years past this event was organized by his late grandfather, Walter Woodward. December 19th is the busiest day of the busiest week of the year at Post Offices across the country. Carlisle is no exception as many happy last-minute patrons line up late on the 19th.
