Police chief selection expected December 13

The selection of a new chief for the Calisle police department is still pending, but Selectman Tim Hult said he expects a recommendation at the next selectmen's meeting on December 13. Selectmen Bill Tice and Tony Allison, Town Administrator Madonna McKenzie, and a member of the Personnel Board are on the search committee.

When former chief David Galvin retired at the end of September, police Lieutenant John Sullivan was named acting chief and selectmen were expected to appoint a new chief in a month. From the beginning Sullivan has been considered for the post but when interviewed last Monday, he indicated that the decision is still pending and added that there is now another candidate for the position. Nothing is known about the other candidate except that he is from Warren, Mass. McKenzie would not comment on the appointment when asked.
