Scott Bowen to wed Barclay Kuntz
Mr. and Mrs. George B. Ellis of Memphis, Tennessee, and Mr. and Mrs. William E. Kuntz of Jacksonville, Florida, announce the engagement of their daughter Barclay Elizabeth Kuntz to Scott Whitney Bowen, the son of Peter and Jane Bowen of Hartwell Road.
Barclay is a graduate of The Hutchison School, Memphis, Tennessee, and is a 2001 graduate of the University of Virginia. Scott is a member of the Class of 1996 at Concord-Carlisle High School and graduated from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, in 2001. Both Barclay and Scott are employed by Merrill Lynch in New York City.
An October 2006 wedding is planned.
Eleonora Polli Ziehler
Joe Ziehler and Frida Polli of Acton Street are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, Eleonora Polli Ziehler, born October 2 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Proud grandparents are Marcia and Joe Ziehler, Sr., of Acton Street and Janet and Rolando Polli of Geneva, Switzerland. The Polli family were visiting Carlisle to celebrate the birth of Eleonora, their first grandchild.
Concord Grape Pie
• Patrick Brennan of Bedford Road and Connor Smith of Hartwell Road, both juniors, were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at St. Sebastian's School in Needham on Friday, October 14. Students with a minimum 85% grade average, who complete an essay application and have the support of their teachers and advisor, are eligible to apply for this honor.
Hal Sauer to be honored
Long-time resident Hal Sauer and his wife Shirley will be leaving Carlisle for retirement this fall. On November 7 there will be a reception in the Clark Room at Town Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. to honor the outstanding record of community service that Hal has recorded during his time in Carlisle. Among other positions, Hal has served on the Board of Selectmen, the Planning Board and, most recently, the Board of Appeals. Hal is a past recipient of Carlisle's Outstanding Citizen Award. Please come and show your appreciation for this service and wish Hal and Shirley a fond goodbye.
