Carlisle gets a break on CCHS assessment
Carlisle's assessed share of the budget for the Concord-Carlisle Regional High School is expected to drop from 29.31% to approximately 27.04%, according to Town Treasurer Larry Barton. The decrease was announced at the September 22 joint meeting of the two towns' Selectmen, Finance Committees and the Regional School Committee (RSC.)
Carlisle's assessment depends on the proportion of CCHS students who reside in Carlisle, and this figure fluctuates yearly. The final number will be available after October 1.
Barton said that based on last year's CCHS budget Carlisle would save roughly $359,000. However, he cautioned that this "can be misleading" because it is still unknown how much the CCHS budget will increase next year when the new assessment will be in effect. Rising costs may "chew up the difference," he noted.
