Traffic enforcement operation proves fruitful
by Kathleen Coyle
Grant funds from the Highway Safety Bureau enabled Carlisle Police
to conduct a traffic enforcement operation on September 1 that resulted
in 21 vehicle stops, 11 citations, and three arrests, according to Carlisle
Police Officer Andy Booth. Booth said the September 1 operation was
the last of several in the periods of activity funded by a grant, which
essentially provided money for 20 hours of police officer activity for
traffic enforcement. Booth said two of the arrests were for operating
under the influence of alcohol and the third for a minor in posession
of a controlled substance as a passenger in one of the stopped vehicles.
Booth considered the enforcement operation successful and said he intends to put in for similar grant monies in the future.
