After starting construction just three weeks ago, trenches for the school's new wastewater treatment facility are dug and pipes have been installed from the school down to Bedford Road/Route 225. Among the papers in the collection of the Carlisle Historical Society is an article entitled "The Home of the Carlisle Pines, a Short History of Carlisle," written in 1905 by Elizabeth Robbins Berry. Mrs. Berry was born in Carlisle in 1854. She was a descendent of old Concord and Carlisle families, among them Willards, Bloods and Healds. She was ...more

It has been a quiet week in Carlisle. On Tuesday, the space shuttle Discovery safely returned to Earth in the California desert, the Red Sox edged out the Texas Rangers in extra innings to remain in first place in the American League East, and the Carlisle Board of Selectmen once again confronted the problem of weed control in the town pathways. ...more
Mosquito seeking part-time news editor

The Mosquito is looking for someone to share the position of news editor. The position involves editing and writing news stories, coordinating with reporters to cover town committee meetings and writing some editorials. Most of the editor's work is done Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday ­ roughly 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday evenings. The paper is published 44 weeks a year.

We are looking for someone with editing and writing skills and an interest in town affairs. We will give training on the particular skills needed to produce the paper. Most of the production is done in PageMaker and Photoshop.
