•Area towns still wary of Hanscom's fate. Although Hanscom Air Force Base recently received notice that it would expand in the next few years, the next few weeks are a critical phase. Over the summer, various military installations will be re-evaluated and the decision to keep Hanscom open may be reversed.
• Kansas group vows anti-gay protests. Members of Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas will descend upon the area in a blitz of weekend protests against "pro-gay policies and gay agenda." The group is targeting religious institutions and schools in Dracut, Lexington, Bedford and Brookline.
