Task Force to present draft of Affordable Housing Plan
A joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the Affordable Housing Plan Task Force to present the draft Town of Carlisle Affordable Housing Plan will be held on Thursday, June 16, in the Clark Room at Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Citizen comments will be sought at this meeting and will be taken into consideration in finalizing the plan for submission to the State's Department of Housing and Community Development for their approval this summer. An approved plan, along with sufficient annual production of affordable housing, could lead to state housing certification for Carlisle. Depending on how much housing is built each year, such certification would allow the town one-year or two-year moratoriums within which it could deny 40B comprehensive permit applications. During these moratoriums, the town would be able to proceed on producing more housing to maintain certification. This might include building on town-owned land and working with private developers to design housing developments more consistent with the town's goals.
Copies of the draft plan are available for review at the offices of the Town Clerk, the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board at Town Hall and at the Gleason Public Library.
