Sixth and seventh graders perform on JV girls basketball team
The Carlisle Huskies junior varsity girls basketball team worked hard on the fundamentals of basketball. Each player continued to grow and improve her level of skill and knowledge at each practice and game.
This year's JV team consisted of six seventh graders and four sixth graders.
The starting point guard was seventh-grader Caroline Materne, who led the team with her strong ball handling skills and scrappy defense. Allie Hassara and Katie Hart, also seventh graders, led the team with their aggressive defense and strong forward moves, adding some points on offense. Daria Koehlert, Irene Karafotias, and Nikki Howard, the seventh-grade guards, led the team with their tough defense and aggressive offense, scoring key baskets in every game. Our sixth graders included Victoria lsenstein, Alexandra King-Shaw, Sophia Hantzis and Melissa Mariano. Victoria and Alexandra were our strong forwards who eagerly learned the game of basketball. Melissa and Sophia showed strong ball handling skill and aggressive defense and offensive skills.
The team was sad to see the season come to an end, as they began to see the results of their hard work and dedication. Every player showed improvement and played a role in making our team better.
Thank you to all the players and fans for a fun and rewarding season. We look forward to watching you play on the varsity basketball team next year.
