CCHS boys winter sports:
Fencing team maintains supremacy
The Concord-Carlisle boys fencing team maintained their supremacy this season with a 12-2 record. Coming off of the undefeated season of 2003 and the State Championship win in 2004, the fencing team was younger, but did not lack the skills.
Many Carlisle students had roles in their team's performance. Thomas Abend won the state championship in the saber class with Keith Lewis coming in third. Kenny Hwu also fenced at States but missed making the individual round by only one place. Nick Lunig also had a decent year for the Patriots. Michael Luby, who suffered an injury and missed all of last year's season, was back and competing in the foil category. The final fencing Carlislean was Nate Johnson, who claimed another respectable season.
With many juniors on the team, CCHS fencing is geared to have another dominant season next year under the coaching of David Blake, a former C-C fencer himself.
