CCHS girls winter sports:
Fencing places first at States

For the first time in sixteen years, the girls fencing team placed first at the State Tournament as well as having an undefeated regular season. The team's performance this season could be attributed to the high level of commitment and hard work from all of the athletes on the team. Led by two seniors and eleven juniors, the team was composed of highly experienced fencers. Needless to say, winning the State Tournament was the best way to end the career of Coach McNeil, who has been with the team for many years. Senior and Captain Eva Jellison led the team with a 22-0 individual record in sabre. Jellison also went on to the State Tournament and placed first in her event. Junior Ariel Morrison had an excellent season, returning with polished blade and footwork, improvement that was reflected in her 11-1 league record. Morrison also served as an alternate for the State's Team in sabre. Junior Laura Scholten worked hard this season after switching from foil to epee.
