The girls swimming team had an unparalleled season this year with the contribution of several Carlisle athletes. Putting behind their 5-3 regular season record in the competitive Dual County League, the swimming team placed in the unprecedented third place at the State Meet in the post-season.

Senior Laura Clark has been on the swim team all four years of her high school career, and has proven herself one of the most dedicated athletes on the team. Clark swam the 50 and 100 freestyle this season, and worked diligently in practice, despite some set-backs because of illness. Junior Sanne Wortel swam the 400 freestyle, and qualified to swim in the 400 freestyle relay at the State Meet. Sophomores Megan Herman and Lauren Lamere both swam the 50 and 100 freestyle. Lamere showed her improved swimming and finely-tuned mechanics in the freestyle this season, giving her high hopes for a returning year. Freshmen Arley Donovan, Emily Holzman and Nikki Wortel debuted their athleticism on the team this season. Donovan had a great start, proved herself a powerful breaststroke swimmer, and shows future promise of making the Sectional and State Meets next year. Holzman swam the 200 and 500 freestyle and made herself known as a tough and hard-working athlete on the team. Nikki Wortel was an extremely coachable swimmer who worked her way up to be invited to a spot on the 400 freestyle relay state team.
